A Path to Natural Beauty


Dr. Lawrence Colen has been practicing Plastic Surgery since 1983. He currently practices in Norfolk, Virginia. Dr. Colen graduated from Colgate University in 1972, where he was awarded membership to the Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society for academic achievement.

He attended Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, New Hampshire from 1972 to 1975 where he earned his medical degree. He went on to do his residency training in General Surgery and then Plastic Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco from 1975 to 1983. Upon completion of his Plastic Surgery residency, he was invited to Dartmouth Medical School where he became Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery and where he practiced until 1990.

Dr. Colen has been in practice in Norfolk, Virginia since 1990. He holds the position of Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery at Eastern Virginia Medical School, and Chief of Plastic Surgery at Sentara Hospitals-Norfolk. Dr. Colen is certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. His office-operating suite is accredited by the American Association for the Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF). This accreditation provides our patients with the assurance of safety and quality in all aspects of their surgical experience.

Dr. Colen regularly publishes articles in the Plastic Surgery journals, as well as contribute chapters to new medical textbooks. He regularly presents at symposia for plastic surgeons, while he continues to develop his own expertise in the most recent and innovative approaches to plastic surgery. Dr. Colen continues his pursuit of technical perfection in his plastic surgery procedures to assure optimal results, which are natural in appearance.
